With her dad frequently away on military service and her mom staying at home to care for the family, structured extracurricular opportunities haven't been within reach. Sophia, 10 Years Old, Wants to Learn Gymnastics
"Sophia is a Wintu Native American from the Redding area, born and raised. She is an exceptionally bright and resilient 10-year-old, growing up as the youngest of three children alongside her two teenage siblings, with a dedicated single father. Over the past few years working with them, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible strength and perseverance of this family as they navigated significant hardship. Through every challenge, her father has shown unwavering love and commitment to providing a supportive, stable environment for his children. Playing on a sports team would be a transformative opportunity for Sophia. Giving her a place to build confidence, build strong friendships, and thrive in a positive group environment. As the oldest of two children, she often takes a backseat to the intensive care required by her younger brother, who is autistic. With her father working out of town for long stretches, her mother functions largely as a single parent, leaving little time or financial flexibility for extracurricular pursuits.
